Congratulations to Shelby Auger for winning the Doctoral Dissertation Fellowship!

Congratulations to Shelby Auger for winning the Doctoral Dissertation Fellowship! Shelby is a 5th year graduate student, and this Fellowship will allow her to finish up her thesis in style. Shelby was awarded this fellowship for her work using proteomics to study changes in the prenylome in both animal and cellular disease models, giving new sights into the relationship between prenylation and Alzheimer’s Disease in particular. Shelby will be continuing this work as well as her efforts to optimize and streamline our prenylomic method in her remaining time here in our group.

Shelby is currently experimenting with modifications of her research group’s methodology to increase rigor and reproducibility of their proteomic analysis. This will help in the study of smaller and more delicate shifts in prenylation during cellular development and disease pathogenesis. She is also working on covering her entire desk in stickers, and is getting pretty close!

The Doctoral Dissertation Fellowship gives UMN’s most accomplished PhD candidates an opportunity to devote full-time effort to their research by providing time to finalize and write their dissertation during the fellowship year.
